Mechanical Bull Safety: Everything Riders & Parents Need to Know

Safety is our absolute #1 priority at DFW Texan, and we want riders and parents to feel completely confident before getting on the bull. Here's everything you need to know.
Age & Size Requirements - Riders must be at least 5 years old. There's no strict upper age limit, but riders should be in reasonable health. The weight limit is 300 lbs. Our operator uses much gentler speed settings for younger or smaller riders.
Who Should NOT Ride - For safety reasons, the following guests should not ride: pregnant individuals, anyone with back, neck, or spine injuries or conditions, those with heart conditions or seizure disorders, and anyone under significant alcohol influence.
The Safety Mat - Every rental includes a large inflatable mat (approximately 15ft × 15ft) surrounding the entire bull. The mat is inflated to provide a soft landing in every direction. Falls happen - that's part of the fun - and the mat is designed to make them completely safe.
The Operator's Role - Our certified operators control the speed, motion pattern, and duration of every ride. They watch each rider carefully and can stop the bull instantly with the safety switch. They set the difficulty based on the rider's age, size, comfort level, and experience.
Rider Preparation - Riders should remove loose jewelry, glasses, and hats before riding. Long hair should be tied back. Wear closed-toe shoes. Hold the rope handle with one hand and keep the other hand free for balance.
Our Safety Record - In 100+ events, we have had zero serious injuries. Minor bumps from landing on the mat occasionally occur, but that's the extent of it. Our rigorous safety protocols, quality equipment, and professional operators make DFW Texan the safest mechanical bull company in Texas.
